I'm bored with my well-trodden ways of painting and feel annoyed at the limits of personal style. So although I ofcourse still can only cook up a painting based on the techniques I know, I'm attempting to get a freeer (are there really three es in that word?) "point of view" or whatever. This one was an experiment with photorealistic and impressionistic styles as well as between total brush opacity versus soft shading (gradients), and I also played a bit with texture although I really got to make some custom brushes for that to make any serious texture! Someone once said that life is a gradient, in that everything flows from one colour to the next, atleast everything in nature, which is very interesting when you observe things like black gravel for example.
I've heard many times people say that people of this age are among the most priviledged to ever live, but honestly, I'd trade all the "luxuries" of modern living for an unpolluted earth and a life much simpler than what's the case today. If I were to do something serious with such musings, it'd be to find a warm forest and cave to live in, hermit-style, and apparently I'm not the only one with such ideas - I'd have the company of Kyle. (Someone to hunt for me! Yay!) This guy has an unusual mind that doesn't close at the suggestion of unusual ideas, which is especially valuable when even the topics are unusual, and though he claims not to believe in spirit, it's obvious there is quite a lot of it in him. ;0
